Lamenting Loss of Family-Owned Grocery

The family-owned store has been a staple in our community for more than 50 years. Its simple, spartan interior is a snapshot into the past, the way grocery stores were in the ’60s and ’70s – like the Del Farm grocery store I shopped at with my father every Thursday night.

The libertarian-leaning me believes an American employer should be able to hire pretty much anyone he or she wants to hire. But the taxpaying me believes that if the federal government limits immigration yet creates a special visa program for highly skilled foreign workers with the assurance that the program will not cut into the wages or jobs of American workers, then Washington ought to keep its promise.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Speaker John Boehner is retaliating against one of the few conservative members of Congress who dared to stand up to him. Not only has Gohmert bucked him on compromise votes, but he dared to stand up against him when Boehner ran for reelection as Speaker.

Caped Crusader does it again! What a marvelous collection of wise, funny, educational posters. Indeed, the first two make me optimistic, really optimistic, about the 2016 election. If Cruz stays true to principle, and doesn’t let ego get in the way, he can beat the media at its own came (as here, for example). Meanwhile, Reagan reminds us that, during bad times, Americans have traditionally been drawn to happy, articulate warriors: (View images.)

Stuff that ought to be inwardly digested by every thinking and sincere believer yet likely to be ignored by every non-thinking relativist... and sadly, lots of folks who are simply misinformed and care little about changing that state. Pass it on. Do a good deed.

Rep. Barbara Lee Adds Prostitution
to List of Crazy Things Blamed on Climate Change

Earlier this week, California Democrat Barbara Lee warned that climate change will affect women more than men. She believes that, because climate change will hurt the food and water supply, millions of poor women will become prostitutes to feed their families. While some might look at Ms. Lee´s comment derisively, others believe it deserves to be honored. And so, prostitution now joins higher-pitched frog calls and skunky beer on the list of crazy things people blame on global warming or climate change.

Today’s post, direct from the Rabbit Hole: (SNIP) Due to the recent mass murder of 149 men, women and children with a high-capacity Airbus A320 airplane–which is just the most recent in an epidemic of suicidal airplanes–airplane safety rules are being reviewed (SNIP)former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg as well as other well known anti-gun politicians and Hollywood activists, grass root advocacy groups have been quickly organized and funded. One of the largest to-date is Mothers Against Planes* (MAP). They’ve already begun to lobby Congress for legislation that will ban any aircraft that holds more than 10 passengers…

I have to be straight forward right at the outset on this faux controversy over the new Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Those losing their tiny minds about it are either wholly ignorant of what is in the law, or know full well what is in it and are lying about the law in order to push their anti-Christian, gay-supporting agenda. There can be no other choice, here.

It’s all about money and political correctness. Money has bought tolerance. It has bought admittance onto some of the most prestigious corporate boards out there. It has bought control over conservative conclaves and it controls the GOP. A famous literary Nobel laureate by the name of Thomas Mann who escaped Germany in 1928 and became an American, wrote in one of his books, tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil. That’s where we are today as a nation and that especially applies to conservatives. Conservatives have welcomed with open arms a known agent of influence — an obvious enemy

This story is not from The Onion. Repeat: It’s not from The Onion. Instead, it is a bona fide news story from the United Kingdom’s National Union of Students. It all started with the “jazz hands” (which are, unbeknownst to this new generation of cultural sensitivity warriors, profoundly racist remnants from the old minstrel show days, but whatever). It turns out that the insensitive among us didn’t realize that clapping needs a trigger warning, since some women apparently get anxious when they hear it. We live in an age of heroes. People who serve their country with honor and distinction. Take Bowe Bergdahl. Seriously, take Bowe Bergdahl, as the U.S. Army is almost done with him. Of course he may be tied up for the next 25 years or so but Susan Rice our National Security Adviser said of him not so long ago. “He served his country with honor and distinction.” Of course what she didn’t know or hadn’t heard at that point was, he tried to serve the AlQualudddiiees with “honor and distinction”. But the AlQuaaludddies weren’t buying it. They locked him

Scott Walker, like most politicians (and, really, most people), has his good points and bad points vis a vis political beliefs. As Allahpundit notes, he’s pretty much always been an amnesty shill, so it would be rather difficult for him to “shift his stance”, at least his true one, as the Wall Street Journal writes, as Walker goes down the road of Establishment Republican amnesty belief.

The last time a poll found Obamacare to be popular was during Obama’s first term. During his second term (now mercifully more than halfway over), Real Clear Politics has listed 178 polls on Obamacare. All 178 have found it to be unpopular. In addition, the Kaiser Health Tracking Poll — a left-leaning outlier that RCP doesn’t even list and which (contrary to essentially every other poll) actually claimed Obamacare was popular at the time of its passage — has released 22 polls on Obamacare during Obama’s second term. All 22 have found it to be unpopular. So, in all, Obamacare
