Ever wonder why taking out a public notice costs so much money? It shouldn’t be that way. With the demise of print newspapers, it no longer makes sense to require that public notices be published only in newspapers. More people have access to the internet now than subscribe to print newspapers. Yet print newspapers have successfully fought tooth and nail over the past 10 years to keep their government-sanctioned monopoly of publishing public notices in place. Every year, powerful newspaper lobbyists convince Republican state legislators to vote against their principles and perpetuate this exclusive monopoly to the dying newspapers. In

The fact that this joke was apparently extremely controversial with liberals shows how utterly humorless they’ve become and how desperate they are to find something to be offended by.

Global warmists finally have an email "gate" of their own that they can turn against "deniers" and they are taking full advantage of it. The Warmists are excited that the Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based state policy group, has been "outed" for attempting to undermine the religiously held tenets of global warming. Emails to that effect are claimed to have been leaked from this group and the warmists as well as their handmaidens in the Old Media are touting this scandal as proof of… well, it’s a bit hard to discern what it is proof of. In fact, it isn't "proof"

How do we, as prompted by the media, measure the mortal equivalence between the deaths of two people?
In the first place don't try and find a definition for mortal equivalence because as far as I can tell I may actually be the coiner of the phrase. Until I'm not of course.
What I mean by this question of mortal equivalence starts with the fact that the death of Whitney Houston, although for the most part self-inflicted, is most certainly a tragedy.

By the eagerness President Obama sought to associate himself with congressional tax cut legislation, you'd think he was campaigning for reelection this year.
Oh, wait. He's never stopped campaigning from 2008.
Congress hasn't actually passed the bill yet and Obama wasn't actually in Washington Thursday. So in between his West Coast donor events the Fundraiser-in-Chief issued a statement.....

Those times seem to be slipping away at an alarming rate:
I cannot imagine the black heart of a man (or, alas, a woman) who struts before a simple little family, and steals their child away. That person, we would say, should be hauled before a court of law and then be banished from civil society. He – she – should be granted plenty of spare time to think again about the cruelty, while staring at the blank walls of a prison cell. How much worse it is, however...

On March 26, when the Supreme Court begins hearing oral arguments in the ObamaCare cases, the first point that will be argued is the government’s contention that the individual mandate is a tax. If it is, the Court has no jurisdiction to rule on its consitutionality until 2014. This is why acting OMB Director Jeffrey Zients stepped in it when he told a Senate Committee the mandate isn’t a tax

So here we have Obama’s budget director telling Congress that no, ObamaCare isn’t a tax. But then we have the DOJ arguing to the Supreme Court that yes, it is a tax.
This has always been a tricky argument for the Obama administration, because admitting that the mandate is a tax means that Obama violated his pledge not to raise taxes on those earning less than $250,000. In September 2009, Obama told ABC’s George Stephanapoulos that the mandate was not a tax. But by the following June, his administration was arguing in court that it was.

This is just the week for me to have sex on my mind. It’s not my fault, though, because the culture insists on pushing it into the forefront of my brain.
Ours is a sex saturated culture. Progressives like it that way and want it to stay that way. Conservatives point out that, while sexual pleasure is one of life’s blessings, a sexually saturated culture is not a healthy culture. Instead, it is one beset by fatherless children (who are more likely to live in economically unstable homes); unmarried teen mothers; demoralized women with low self-esteem; rampant sexually transmitted disease; abortion

Obama wants US taxpayers to cough it up for the Arab Spring:
The White House announced plans on Monday to help “Arab Spring” countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt.
And what would that be nurturing? This is what they have in mind:
In a recent sermon, the General Guide of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Badi’, set out his vision for his movement and for Egypt in the post-revolutionary era. Citing Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan Al-Bana, he stated that the movement has two goals. The immediate goal is to prepare
