Newt Gingrich has proven to be the most self-absorbed, self-indulgent, ethically challenged, venal misanthrope since Henri Philippe Benoni Omer Joseph Pétain or the guy who won the first season of “Survivor”, take your pick. In fact, he makes Pétain look like… well Neville Chamberlain (I guess I got to keep things in perspective... Pétain was French and therefore, a natural-born weasel).

As part of his fantasy “deficit reduction” plan, Barack Obama proposed a number of new taxes. One of them was the so-called “Buffett Rule.”
So how is $4 billion a year going to create “fairness”? How is it going to give everyone a “fair shot”? How does that actually work? Will the yearly $4 billion go into the “fair shot pool”? And once that doesn’t do anything, will Obama be back asking for a 90% tax so everyone can have more “fair shots”? Is the ultimate goal control of and business and everyone’s salaries so the Obamitburo can determine what’s

Rep. Allen West’s assertion that nearly 80 Democratic members of Congress are Communists begs for modification. Perhaps Rep. West should have chosen his terms more carefully. The respectable term is Progressives, and they have their own Congressional Progressive Caucus. No surprise about the usual firebrands/AgitPropers, but the unpleasant image is presumably leavened by the more genteel sort like Rush Holt(NJ) and Carolyn Maloney(NY). 76 “Progressives.” That’s pretty close to 80. And among their pet projects: “Restore the American Dream to the 99%.” That’s the respectable way of saying “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

I was very surprised the charge was 2nd degree murder (I was expecting a lesser charge) but that only confirms my original suspicion that the evidence was much clearer than many suspected it was.

Yesterday, Rick Santorum dropped out of the race. Theoretically, that should help Newt Gingrich, but he has already been talking like his campaign is over and he’s bouncing a $500 check to Utah; so it’s hard to see how he could get it together and seriously challenge Mitt at this point. Of course, Ron Paul is still in the game, but he is also still Ron Paul, which means there’s not anything he can do to stop Mitt either. I’d have preferred for Santorum to stay in as long as possible in an attempt to force a brokered convention, which

When NBC’s “Today” show played the audio of George Zimmerman’s call to a Sanford, Fla., police dispatcher about Trayvon Martin, the editors made him appear to be a racist who says: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.” What Zimmerman actually said was: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining, and he’s just walking around, looking about.” The 911 officer responded by asking, “OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?” Zimmerman replied, “He looks black.” NBC says it’s investigating the doctoring

Let’s stipulate: Activists on the left are free to exercise their rights of speech and assembly to boycott businesses whose politics they oppose. Conversely, activists on the right are free to exercise the power of their pocketbooks and refrain from supporting businesses that shun their values.

The Democrats started their little meme of a Republican war on women a few months ago with their Sandra “I want tons of free contraception” Fluke fake Congressional hearing, and have ginned up more outrage since. Though, I’d think women would be a little ticked off that Democrats have essentially been stating that women aren’t capable of earning the small amounts necessary to purchase condoms, birth control pills, etc, on their own. Rather patronizing, eh? And Mitt Romney takes the meme and turns it back at Obama in an economic way, both on a conference call and a speech

Oh the delicious irony.
On ABC’s The View Tuesday, as co-host Whoopi Goldberg supported Saturday’s call by CNN’s Don Lemon for reporters to say the N-word when quoting folks that have, the censors actually bleeped her when she said the word herself…

Obama supporters and leftists this week launched another great lie on the American people. This time they are attempting to claim that Reagan is somehow not as “extreme” as Romney because Reagan was an abortion supporter. But this claim is simply not true. It amounts to a misconstruction of both Reagan’s and Romney’s history most especially Reagan’s considered opinion on the subject.

Iraq is in a mess. Violence continues. Factionalism leads to endless bickering. Corruption is at high levels. Christians live in fear or flee altogether. Islamism is constantly creeping forward. Yet I would suggest that with all these shortcomings the “Iraqi model” is the best that can be expected for the Middle East.
What’s the worst-case scenario? Iran, Afghanistan, Gaza, Sudan, or the permanent civil war situation in Syria, Yemen, and probably Libya.
It isn’t that democracy is theoretically impossible or incompatible in principle with Islam or Arab society. The problem is that it just isn’t going to happen at this particular point

Bob Owens walks back his George Zimmerman is a murderer claim made just a few weeks ago:
How naive that post now seems. The narrative created by the media at that time was one of an innocent life taken for no reason at all, by a much older, heavier, and racist man itching for a confrontation.

Andrew Malcolm slipped this into twitter last night and it just completely charmed me. Young Caine is a small businessman within his community; he’s got a dream, a clever head and an open heart. He has everything he needs to succeed in America: curiosity, imagination, vision, ambition, energy, optimism and openness. He also has a “government” (in the form of his father) that is happy to see him dream and explore ideas and avenues, one that’s willing to let him run with his head and sink or swim without a lot of hand-holding or oversight.

The pending nomination of Mitt Romney demonstrates that conservatives cannot depend on the GOP to light a fire under the American people about the dangers of the leftist agenda and profligate spending. The danger posed by your mother in law or your best friend are nothing compared to the Taliban or Al Qaeda and the other real dangers our men and women in uniform face every day. How much are you willing to do to make sure that their sacrifice is not in vain? Are you willing to do what it takes to help send the Democrats home? Are you

When Obamacare passed through Congress by the hair on its chinny-chin-chin, the optimistic Pelosi prognosis was: Be patient and call back in two years. The people will love it the more they learn about it. Well, it's been two years. They've learned more about it, including its dishonest cost estimates and politically-tinged bureaucratic exceptions. And they don't like it.

Don't you just love it when progressives try to convince you that Obama has been a successful president? Much of the time, they back up their claims with some half-baked numbers pulled out of their backsides. The numbers below are all sourced and represent what Barack Obama has done to the economy since he took office.
It actually understates the case, because the original $800 billion of the stimulus plan was spent in fiscal 2009, meaning Obama and the progressives spent it but the deficit gets added to Bush's total because the original budget was proposed, past and signed during

Sometimes even a 24/7 news cycle can get so heavily dominated by a handful of stories that everything else seems to disappear. Just as we started to wind down from the tale of a future 1 percenter complaining that a religious-affiliated school should pay for her birth control, we’ve jumped into the Trevon Martin case becoming the focal point of the left’s "Keep Hate Alive" campaign for 2012, along with leftist leadership starting to launch pre-emptive attacks against the Supreme Court for potentially committing that horrific act of judicial activism known as striking down an unconstitutional law. In this hurricane

Today our president traveled to Florida to attack 400 people. That's right 400 people. Actually he went to sell his campaign mirage also known as the Buffett rule named after the billionaire whose companies owe over a billion dollars to the IRS.
Today, the President travels to Florida to officially sell the Buffett Rule.
Understand, this rule has nothing to do with reducing the deficit. This misguided rule will raise an additional $4.7 billion dollars/year for the next ten years from about 400 people. The only purpose for this campaign effort is for Obama to position himself at the prophet of fairness
