Ten years ago this month the Democrats defeated the bill that would have allowed us to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve (ANWR). So it's happy anniversary to the loss of our energy independence once again.

Why the Yale and George Mason University poll attempt to
tie “extreme weather” to global warming is rubbish

In stark contrast the the agenda filled Yale poll by Anthony A. Leiserowitz, a Gallup poll from last week says that American don’t seem much concerned about global warming at all. In fact it is dead last in the concerns.

This is why warmists need a new ploy, if they can make global warming about everyday weather, they’ll have a golden hammer. In my opinion, it is psychological terrorism.

Last year, the book I spent more time urging you to read than any other was Robert Barron’s Catholicism, which I called a “course in revolution”, arguing that a better-understanding of who we Catholics are, where we came from and what we embody in the world can be a social and political game-changer like nothing else. This year, I believe I am going to be nagging you to read Ross Douthat’s Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics as a sort of “companion book” to Catholicism. Once we know who we are a people of faith, we need to

We talk about it, and it’s a serious issue, but how much do we really know about the reality of Christian persecution, and how we folks in the pews need to be prepared to help each other as people are “paying blood for their fidelity to the Gospel”?

Back in the days Capitalism was taught in public schools as the best economic. For those of you who were taught that the various forms of Marxism (such as Socialism, Communism or Fascism for example) were just as viable as Capitalism ask anyone who graduated High School prior to the mid-80's, they will back me up on this point. What the hell did they teach kids in Hawaii 40 years ago?? We learned that the way to lower prices was to increase supply or lower demand. Either they didn't teach that in Hawaii or President Obama played hooky during those

Fr. Z. is comparing yesterday's shuttle flyover of DC to something that occurred on the same day some 42 years earlier: Today Discovery, heading to her tomb in Washington, touched down safely at Dulles Airport on the back of the 747. Today in 1970 the stricken Odyssey of the Apollo 13 Moon mission splashed down safely on the back of courage, ingenuity and millions of prayers. Apollo 13 was followed by other missions and programs and a bolstered sense of accomplishment. Discovery will be followed by…

OK, picture this: President George W. Bush, he of the cast-iron Texas tongue, at a news conference concluding an international summit. He's asked about a dispute involving Argentina and Great Britain, our closest overseas ally. Bush refers to the disputed territory by the wrong name, misplacing the islands by some 8,000 miles. Worse than geographic ignorance, instead of backing Britain, whose prime minister he just buddy-buddied at an NCAA game and White House state dinner, Bush says, Well, that's not really something he thinks the United States would take sides on. Britain? Or Argentina? Seriously?

What a way to go! And arrive! Aboard its trusty 747 transporter, the decommissioned space shuttle Discovery made its final flight today, from Florida to Washington. Just before landing at Dulles Airport, the twinned craft made a dramatic low-altitude pass over the Capitol. Maybe you noticed that above. http://news.investors.com/article/608115/201204171756/space-shuttle-discovery-makes-last-flight-over-its-new-home-washington.htm

Let’s be honest: There are a lot of liberals who think, probably correctly, that the Democratic Party benefits from voter fraud. They figure it pads their totals across the country on election day by tens of thousands of votes and probably swings a handful of close races their way. Undoubtedly, they’re right about that.

For millions of America today is a sad day. Postmarked by midnight tonight the tax paying 53% of the country would have filed their returns and paid their tax bill (as my wife the CPA reminds me an extension is just for the piece of paper the money has to be paid on time). For 47% of the country there is no tax bill. But in a special report by Newsbusted anchor Jodi Miller we learn of a newly established celebration by that 47%, its called Obama Christmas.
