The Tea Party, that spontaneous eruption of conservative rebels that some had written off as all but defunct, has taken another major step in its relentless remake of the Republican Party. GOP Establishment, beware. Texas Republicans handed political neophyte Ted Cruz their party's Senate nomination Tuesday, which is tantamount to election come Nov. 6 to replace retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. The son of a Cuban immigrant (is this beginning to sound familiar, Marco Rubio fans?), Cruz has been the longest-serving solicitor general in Texas history, but had never before run for office.

This has been a dirty campaign season. Sadly as the desperation of the Democratic Party increases, the filth spewing from their mouths grow. Sunday it was Nancy Pelosi, using Antisemitism as a campaign tactic, today it's Harry Reid's turn.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Reid cites an anonymous Bain investor to report that Mitt Romney hasn't paid any taxes for the past ten years. What PROOF? NOTHING. And to be quite honest, if it is true good for him. I want the name of his CPA.

Obama is running probably the most cynical campaign in recent memory. At Obama's hands, Romney is suffering the worst treatment a presidential candidate has gotten from an opponent since Gov. Al Smith was ripped to pieces by anti-Catholic operatives in 1928 giving Herbert Hoover an easy White House win. Obama and his surrogates are simply throwing one provably false claim after another at Romney in the hopes that uninformed people will not know the difference.

Over at Poynter.org, Howard Finberg has quite an interesting piece about the changing world of education -- he focusing specifically on educating future journalists. Finberg and others have been ruminating on how e-learning will change the profession of education and of course they are ultimately right. But, I think some important factors were missed in the discussion, factors that will tend to put a dampener on these new ways to educate.

At the end of June I noted the ratings success that Fox Business Network had over CNBC and that only Larry Kudlow was still beating FBN in the ratings. Now, for the first time, Kudlow lost the ratings battle, at least for one month.

Perhaps the worldwide worship of Barack Obama is not over. You may remember that the US President was awarded the Nobel peace prize for...well...nothing. Now the International Olympic Committee has decided to award Obama three Olympic Gold medals. Newsbusted Anchor Jodi Miller is back from vacation with the exclusive report. There is no date for the medal ceremony, but unlike the Nobel committee the IOC is recognizing the President for things he accomplished.
