New convert to Catholicism to be Leah Libresco is speaking to those who put work above all else in a piece she's aptly titled The Sad Secular Monks. You know who you are: Male CEOs are not asked how they will balance the responsibility to their jobs with their obligations to their children because it is assumed that a parental relationship is a luxury for men at the top. Women entered the workforce, but didn’t submit to its disregard of the family, so they are achingly aware of the tradeoffs...

Where did these surface to air weapons come from?

Most likely- Libya.

In his haste to score political points, Barack Obama conducted an air war on Libya in order to drive out Muammar Gaddafi. Obama wanted desperately to avoid putting US troops on the ground in Libya, but there was an enormous cost for that-

No, it sure isn’t the age of Aquarius or of Multicultural, Politically Correct love-ins. It’s the age of revolutionary Islamism, especially Sunni Islamism. And you better learn to understand what this is all about real fast. (Shia Islamism, important mainly because of Iran and especially because of its nuclear ambitions, is number two on the threat list. But that’s not our topic today.)

The Weekly Standard is giving us a preview of Mrs. Romney's speech tonight: “Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts. “I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family. I want to talk to you tonight about that one great thing that unites us, that one thing that brings us our greatest joy when times are good, and the deepest solace in our dark hours...

Todd Akin’s ill-informed remarks opened the floodgates for the usual smears about the fact that all conservatives are ignorant, racist, sexist, theocratic, misogynistic tyrants. The one that got the greatest play amongst my liberal Facebook friends was Timothy Egan’s New York Times‘ column claiming that Akin isn’t the only Republican crackpot in Congress. He went for the usual suspects, namely those Congressmen who don’t believe in anthropogenic climate change (meaning that they acknowledge the change but deny mankind’s centrality) and those who do not believe that scientific evolution does away with God’s role in human creation. Oh, the horror!

We often learn from our mistakes. We often learn from our experiences in order to make adjustments or better decisions going forward. Unfortunately, although government is made up of humans, it does not share that same skillset.

There is possibly no better example of this than the debacle that is Uncle Sam’s ethanol obsession.

Left-wing, British columnist Owen Jones was not a fan of George W. Bush, it seems. While this is no surprise for as screaming a left-winger as Jones, what is a surprise is that he has decided that President Obama is no real improvement over the "repulsive" Bush. In a recent column in The Independent, Jones went on a monotonous rant of name-calling against Bush -- the same sort of nonsense with which we are all woefully familiar. All his name calling there is easily forgettable, naturally, but when he finally got that Bush Derangement Syndrome out of his system and

Rove has noted that due to a lack of recent statewide polls, both Texas and South Dakota are still categorized as Lean Romney, even though both are fully expected to be in the Romney column come November. In his State of the Race map commentary this week Rove writes: Mitt Romney heads to the Republican Convention with his "safe" and "lean" Electoral College votes unchanged at 108 and 74, respectively. While Barack Obama's count shifted to 177 "safe" and 70 "lean."

To hear the pundits on business news tell it the economy in the U.S. is growing and we Americans are slowly clawing our way out of the economic malaise the country has been in for over 4 years.
