What caption would you put under this picture of Joe Biden where it looks as if he was just stumped by the question "Who is the current VP of the United States?" My question is whether this man actually is smarter than a 5th grader!

Susana Martinez is the Republican governor of New Mexico. She's the first female Hispanic elected governor in the United States and was a prominent part of the diversity on display during the Republican National Convention last week in Tampa. We think you'll be hearing more from her in coming months and years. We didn't get to publish her speech that night. So, we're catching up now with the text and a full video.

Progressives have taken two approaches to challenging Clint Eastwood’s brilliant performance art. The first is to claim that it perfectly represents the Republicans’ failure to appreciate the true Obama, as demonstrated by their years’ long invention of an imaginary Obama. The other approach, which Ann Althouse highlights, is to claim that it was incredibly demeaning to pretend that the president is a mean-spirited empty chair:

Various news outlets are reporting that the U.S. is dramatically scaling back joint exercises with Israel, something Israel perceives to be a sign of distrust and an effort (again) to create distance between itself and America:

Hello from New Orleans. I’m Congressman Steve Scalise. It’s an honor to speak to you on this Labor Day weekend. But first, let me take a moment to thank all Americans for the prayers and support you’ve sent to our state and our region in recent days. Please keep those good thoughts and prayers coming, and as you do, I ask you to also remember those who lost their lives in Hurricane Katrina seven years ago. They’re always in our hearts.

Jim Yardley wrote a brilliant article on August 18, 2012, for “another” conservative web site. His article was entitled “You Can Pick Only Two.” His article was so good that I had to throw my 2¢ worth in. Jim did a great job explaining just how the “Price – Quality – Delivery” paradigm works in the real world.

The Atlantic illicitly portrayed GOP House Speaker John Bohner as saying that he "said out loud he hopes blacks and Latinos 'won't show up' this election," but a look at what Boehener actually said proves that The Atlantic is purposefully misleading its readers.

Hi, everybody. On Friday, I visited Fort Bliss in Texas, where I met with some of our extraordinary men and women in uniform to mark the second anniversary of the end of major combat in Iraq. It was a chance to thank our troops for the outstanding work they’ve done over the last decade. Fort Bliss is home to soldiers who took part in every major phase of the Iraq War — from the initial assault on Baghdad; to the years of fighting block by block; to the partnership with the Iraqi people that helped give them a chance to

A few weeks ago when the press questioned the Obama commercial accusing Mitt Romney of causing the death of a steelworker’s wife, I really believed there was hope for the media. After reading the accounts/watching the coverage of the Republican National Coverage that hope faded.
The mainstream media returned to their 2008 form desperately trying to prop up the floundering campaign of president, inventing their own slanted interpretations of what was said and done in Tampa. Below are my picks for the most blatant examples of bias during the convention

It’ll be interesting to see what the viewership numbers are for Romney’s speech. Many are describing the speech as “workman-like.” I can agree with that. Workman-like is good. Workman-like is how my NY Giants have won the Superbowl twice in 5 years. Workman-like is how my NJ Devils have won 3 Stanley Cups, played in 5, missed the Playoffs just twice, and have one of the best records in hockey since 1990. This country doesn’t need flash, pomp and circumstance, nor a rock star as president: we need competence and hard work
