Higher taxes are “just the beginning”

Barack Obama wants taxes increased on the “rich” but not for the purpose of revenue. As previously noted, those taxes will net only $80 billion per year thrown at a $1250 billion deficit. Obama wants to be seen as “punishing” the well off in the guise of “fairness.” “Fairness” appeals greatly to those who lack the ambition gene.

No More Mr. Nice Speaker! Its time for the Congressional Republicans to fight back. Yesterday´s counter-offer made by House leadership and the almost immediate rejection by President Obama shows the GOP willing to compromise and the President glued to his position. The Bohener offer called for $800 billion in new revenue via tax-code reform along with spending cuts and entitlement reforms that would trim a little over $2 trillion dollars off the deficit. The $800 in revenue created by the GOP plan is equivalent to the funds generated by eliminating the "Bush tax cuts for families making more than $250K (individuals

If only there was enough time to give this thing some teeth: An online petition seeking to hold the President and Congress accountable by withholding their paychecks and healthcare benefits until the “Fiscal Cliff” is avoided, and an agreement solving the agonizing crisis is reached, was created on the White House website on December 3, 2012...

The White House commemorated the anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her bus seat by releasing a picture of Barack Obama on the bus. On December 7th, the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, what picture do you suppose the White House will release then? The article contains my prediction!

A couple of weeks ago, I said to my sister, “Kate’s pregnant,” referring to the Duchess of Cambridge. “How do you know?” she asked. “Because,” I told her, “the British press was filled with daily stories about her, showing her going her and there, and always talking about her perfect style. Suddenly, though, she’s vanished. She’s not showing up anywhere. so I’m betting that she’s pregnant and suffering from morning sickness.”

Mickey Kaus has alerted readers to a change in the way the federal government figures the poverty line and that new way so alters the formula that we will never be able to show any improvement in rates of poverty going foward. Worse, the new formula stops measuring strict want and instead measures a more vague "inequality" of income.

"Insulting." That is what conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer termed Obama´s "plan" to prevent the federal government from falling over the fiscal cliff. But to the Old Media establishment, Obama´s insulting plan lacking in specifics was a brilliant "strategic move" that will force Republicans to "offer a counter proposal," despite the fact that, going back to Paul Ryan´s Road Map, the GOP is the only side offering many specifics in this debate thus far.

Here’s the reality of the situation. – The economy is in bad shape and it’s conceivable that going over the fiscal cliff could push it into recession, although nobody really knows one way or the other. – Going over the fiscal cliff is probably the best hope for deficit reduction we’ll have in the next four years.

Why do some atheists embarrass themselves year after year trying to eradicate Christmas from American culture? Why do they make themselves societal hemorrhoids during this hallowed season? Is it because they are crusaders for equality, secularism’s saviors and humanism’s heroes? I’m sure that’s what they tell themselves when they’re pouting on their couches all alone on Christmas Eve after every single one of their friends has dumped them for being a rabid jackass.

Obama owns the fiscal cliff. These are HIS laws. He signed them. The GOP needs to scream that loudly every single day.

Barack Obama is cynical, but could he really be so cynical as to sign into law something he knew would have to be reversed while blaming the GOP?

I am also cynical and I believe that that scenario is very possible. Now Obama is demanding that the GOP save America from Obama.

Don’t do it.

President Obama loves to insert himself in other people’s biographies. He also loves to honor people, most recently Neil Armstrong and Vice President Biden, with pictures of himself. All. About. Him. His laser-like focus never wavers from his own image.

And the narcissism continues: To honor the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, President Obama paid homage with a picture of himself.

The Anchoress is covering the Pope´s jump into the twitterverse: The church has always been quick to identify mission territory and to send forth eager workers. Online outreach is a very different sort of mission; material and corporeal needs are almost besides the point. On the internet the church is missioning in the ether — the exact spot where light and dark are constantly waging the war that so readily spills into our realities...

On June 25 we will be celebrating the 136th anniversary of George Armstrong Custer’s philosophic victory at Little Big Horn. It’s true that George suffered a severe hair cut along with the 265 men under his command, but he certainly showed chiefs Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse that he wasn’t about to be intimidated by 10,000 Sioux. We can’t know how many people will celebrate the 136th anniversary the philosophic victory by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union in 2148, none of us will be among the living by then. But I’d sure like to know.

Those who know history, know that tyrants constantly ‘cleanse’ or ‘purge’ their ranks of those they perceive as disloyal to the powers that be. They rule with an iron fist and with total control, because not to is to expose their political jugular to their enemies. It truly is dog eat fascist dog. This is very true in the Obama sphere of influence and within the ranks of his court. So, in the true tradition of dumping earth shaking news before a holiday or on a Friday, the day before Thanksgiving, Obama published a memo laying out guidelines for executive
