Not long after the book Three Cups of Tea: One Man´s Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time came out in 2006 it became a best-selling sensation, but now the co-author of the book, beset by questions over whether or not the stories in the book are true, has committed suicide.

There is a lot of talk of the upcoming fiscal cliff that is looming if a budget deal is not reached by the end of the year between President Obama and Republicans in Congress. If this comes to pass some disastrous consequences will hit us:
So I say that it’s high time we start feeling the consequences of our actions. Abolishing the debt ceiling and giving the president a blank check to push us further into debt indefinitely is the equivalent to an alcoholic at the bar telling his bartender that the only way to get his tab paid up is

No budget, no debt reduction, no way to avoid the “fiscal cliff” that Congress created by not doing their job the last time around. Butt we have reached concurrence in both houses of Congress to remove the offensive word “lunatic” from federal law. Fortunately, they did NOT ban the use of the term “idiot” thereby leaving us with a useful and descriptive term to describe our legislators and their legislative efforts.(snip)So it is in their honor that I dedicate this weeks sing-along(snip)Brain Damage: Pink Floyd(snip)The lunatic is on the grass...

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie waited till the last possible day to act on this legislation but his announcement today is heartening. Here it is:
Continuing a careful and thoughtful approach that appropriately considers the best interests of the state’s residents and taxpayers, Governor Chris Christie today vetoed legislation that would have begun to establish a State-based health care exchange in New Jersey in line with the federal Affordable Care Act. Though December 14, 2012 is the deadline for states to decide whether to establish a State-based Exchange, the federal government has failed to provide

Judges hate when litigants hide things from them, especially bankruptcy judges. Judge Robert E. Gerber is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York. Gerber oversaw the GM managed bankruptcy (bailout) and is now hearing a lawsuit which may overturn a big part of the the deal. As you may remember, the bailout involved the liquidation of the "old" GM and the creation of a new one.
Now a lawsuit filed by a trust representing “old” GM’s unsecured creditors, is attacking a “lockup agreement” which sent hundreds of millions of dollars to a group of hedge

I don’t think “the Nazis did it” is an adequate reason not to do something (They had a military, so we better not build a military!), but when you pull something out of the more troubling half of Hitler’s playbook, it should raise a few eyebrows.
