Barack Obama doesn’t love this country. Never has, never will. Anyone who paid attention already knew he wasn’t patriotic. Before he was elected, Obama didn’t hold his hand up for the pledge of Allegiance.

Tony Rossi writes "of the deeper themes that lie at the heart of the work of J.R.R. Tolkien": At a recent press conference about the film in New York City, Richard Armitage, who portrays the Dwarf warrior Thorin Oakenshield, said, “One of the things I find when I look into that book [The Hobbit) is a sense of Tolkien’s Catholicism, his Christianity – not necessarily in a denominational way, but in terms of his chivalric view of the world...

Despite its own insistence that it is very much alive, the Republican Party has now joined the crowd invisible. The sad pathetic truth of its demise is that those who once believed in it, and cared deeply for it, are no longer around to bury it with dignity. Its corpse has now become the dancing play thing of Washington D.C. consulting firms and lobbyist.

The most ironic fact of the Republican Party’s death is that it was not a showdown at high noon on Capitol Hill that killed it. Nor a rare exotic virus that provided the mortal blow. It

Fr. Lemieux with one that hits too close to home: We are meant to live in a holy longing for God’s coming, in a state of vigilant watchfulness, expectant hope, constant zeal for the kingdom of God and its growth in the world. We have to take into account the sad reality that we do not always live like that...

There are no survey statistics available on the appeal of audio-visual courses entitled “The Joy of Snow-Shoveling” or “The Joy of Rolling Around on the Floor of a Chicken Coop” but my intuition is that they would have limited commercial prospects. “The Joy of Mathematics” may do better, but surely not much better. We all know someone who has experienced the joy of Fibonacci Numbers (don’t we?) but we also know many more who have agonized over high school Algebra, ground their teeth in frustration while computing their income tax liabilities, dodged the dismal drill of balancing their check books

As every Jew will tell you, in the traditional Jewish calendar Hanukkah is not big deal. It reached its present status because it happens to fall at the same time as Christmas. Jewish parents, therefore, turned it into a gift-giving holiday so that their children didn’t feel completely left out from the happy, generous, celebratory Christmas season. The fact that it’s not a big religious holiday, though, doesn’t mean that Hanukkah doesn’t commemorate an extremely important event, one that has enduring meaning to all freedom seeking individuals.

In defiance of the free market´s proven success in eradicating poverty, the freest nations in mankind’s history continue on their courses to self-destruction. What irony and stupidity for humans to believe that their successful attainment of mass prosperity via dynamic capitalism is but a prelude on the road to progress, the next step being a “perfect” centrally planned utopia. A corrupted populace bought off by entitlements and ”free” basic services is at fault, not the power-hungry demagogues seducing the masses with the old deadly siren song of socialism.

I looked at my husband today and seriously asked, what happened to morality? Where have ethics gone? Where is G-d in our country’s equation? Did I miss a decade? Progressivism seems to have engulfed both sides of the aisle these days. It’s becoming harder and harder to tell the difference between the right and the left. Looks like we really have gone moderate — in a Socialized manner of speaking — Marxism for all! I have lost any faith I ever had in the parties that be. I do believe it’s third party time. I watched this week as Boehner purged conservatives

As we drift further and further into the ‘abyss of the immoral‘… hostilities against Christmas have reached a new level of absurd intolerance. Now ‘cartoon characters’ Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the gang are named in the latest version of what has become known as “The Annual Atheist Yuletide Lawsuit.” It’s no longer even news that Christmas Trees are being banned at Senior Citizen homes….again. And you can always count on atheists to go into a public meltdown over Nativity Scenes because they are offended. Well, I’m offended by them. Contrary to popular belief, this is NOT a war on Christmas—this is

Over at Huffington Post Robert Greenwald discovers that Obama has been killing children with drones

During my recent trip to Pakistan as part of our upcoming documentary film, Drones Exposed, I was struck most by the stories told to me by children who had experienced a U.S. drone strike firsthand. The impact of America’s drone war in the likes of Pakistan and Yemen will linger on, especially for the loved ones of the 178 children killed in those countries by U.S. drone strikes.

Saturday mornings aren´t usually mornings I find myself readying for Mass but that´s exactly what I was doing a few hours ago as I prepared to celebrate what the Church calls the Feast of The Immaculate Conception on this Holy Day of Obligation. There is much thought and believed about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, by both Catholics and non-Catholics and sadly, not much of it is as accurate or correct as it ought or needs to be. So I was most pleasantly surprised this morning...
