During this past week there have been many questions/comments about the news going through my mind which were much too short to expand into a post. I thought it would be entertaining to put them all together in a post as a little change of pace. Some are serious, others are nearly serious and one or two might generate a snort.

Anyhow, there are two big stories over at Politico about how Google beat the feds, the first linked by Drudge, more about the nuts and bolts of the deal, and the other

Chris Christie has never been a social conservative. He hasn’t even been a loyal conservative. Despite the fact that Mitt Romney considered Chris Christie for his VP slot and gave him a keynote speaking position at the RNC, Christie betrayed Romney by talking up Obama after he did the bare minimum to help the state in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Chris Christie’s approval numbers in New Jersey went up, but Romney’s numbers with independents plunged. It’s hard to know how many votes Christie cost Romney, but it wasn’t an insignificant number.

Barack Obama did not become president of the United States to preside over the liquidation of the welfare state. On the contrary, he is dedicated to its expansion. He’s already created the largest new entitlement in half a century (Obamacare). And he has increased federal spending to an astronomical 24.4?percent of GDP (the postwar norm is about 20?percent), a level not seen since World War II.

The Journal News is in the center of controversy again. In December the Westchester, New York area paper politicized the names and addresses of thousands of New York´s legal gun owners then threatened to publish even more in the near future. But now a hacker group has hacked into the newspaper´s database and is disseminating the names, addresses, and passwords of thousands of the Journal News´ own customers.

I will admit to you that I signed the petition immediately. It has only 9 signatures currently, so it’s not much higher than a kite right now.

“Zero Dark Thirty,” which will open for Washington audiences Friday, inaccurately links torture with intelligence success and mischaracterizes how America’s enemies have been treated in the fight against terrorism. Many others object to the film, however, because they think that the depiction of torture by the CIA is accurate but that the movie is wrong to imply that our interrogation techniques worked.
They are wrong on both counts.

My late Mama instructed, “Never put your business in the street.” Due to the extremely serious situation in which we find our country today, I must share my personal testimony (put my business in the street) to save America.
In 1993, I quit my 15 year position at an ABC affiliate TV station in Baltimore to pursue a new career in music. At that time, callers on the Rush Limbaugh show were losing their jobs to down-sizing. Rush encouraged them to view it as an opportunity to pursue their dreams. Inspired and with Mary’s blessings, I quit my position, despite being

Roughly since mid-November (NMP) Obama has been Cranking up the pressure on passing “fiscal cliff” legislation. He’s been excoriating Republicans. He made dire predictions. He came out to make statements and Blame Republicans. Of course, he himself created a situation whereby the deal was done after the last minute. Nor did he excoriate Harry Reid for refusing to allow a vote on Obama’s fiscal cliff plan. But, we were told how super duper massively important this legislation was. So, how did he sign it? The Washington Post tells us in a story that is web-only

When I was in junior high school, high school, and college, my American history classes always preached the same message: Franklin Roosevelt saved America by “priming the pump.” That is, he took money away from the rich, filtered it through the government, and then used the brain-power built into government to decide upon the infrastructure projects we know and love today, everything from Hoover Dam, to the Tennessee Valley Authority, to the cool art deco post offices dotted around the nation. It was only when I was in college that the teachers put a name to this wondrous system: Keynesian

Many great things about the speech, and Boehner has done his part to at least attempt negotiations with the other side but judging from his remark recently that he will no longer meet Obama one-on-one and telling Reid to “go f*** yourself” he may be coming around to a fact most of us already knew. The left doesn’t want to negotiate, they want to rule as Monarchs.
I guess we’ll see. I had high hopes for Boehner when he was last elected Speaker and was disappointed.
Has he seen the light or will this be more of the same ole’ same ole?

One of the lines that many progressives and TV talking heads are reiterating is that no one really wants to take away Americans´ guns. Senator Dianne Feinstein apparently missed that directive. She admitted as far back as 1995 that she does, indeed, wish to take everyone´s guns away from them.
