It occurred to me, after the Sandy Hook murders, that blaming guns is a secular substitute for blaming the devil. People find it too challenging to figure out why a human being would do this terrible thing and they latch on to the idea that the gun made it happen. Suicide presents a similar challenge, and one way to fathom it is to say: It was the gun. Isn’t it like saying the devil made him do it? The gun/the devil is a great go-to answer, freeing you from wracking your brain about the workings of the human mind. —

Despite Obama´s promise to cut unnecessary regulations, his administration issued $236.7 billion in new regulations in 2012. According to a report by the American Action Forum, headed by former Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the direct costs of the regulations force America´s businesses to waste 87 million man-hours to fill out regulatory paperwork.

Though I find little to disagree with on what she´s written here about this President, though I think she has nailed, finally, what the man is at his core, though she writes beautifully and effectively as to his character, it´s a little tough for me to praise she who praised him so back in 2008 when many of us saw him for what he is even then...

Now, the 23 executive orders Barack Obama signed that are aimed at “reducing gun violence” could be considered, at worst, cynically political or, at best, completely useless. But the way Obama treats the process, children, the debate, the Constitution and the American people is another story. Sen. Rand Paul recently remarked that “someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress — that’s someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch.” That may be a bit hyperbolic, but it is also a bit true.

I have not been following this young man´s football career at Notre Dame and quite frankly, know nothing of him but the stories coming to light about his involvement in what is apparently an elaborate hoax with an alleged death and more is... intriguing to say the least.
Yet, he does have his defenders and they seem more than credible to me...
